“We’ve been hooked for 30 years!”
Craighton Smith excitedly told dock staff when they were weighing in his Catch of the Day. His salmon weighed 23lbs-03oz.
He and his friends are visiting us from the sunny Okanagan region. They visit the Canadian Princess Resort often, sometimes twice a year. This time they were fishing on an all-day trip with Skipper Lynette on the Nootka Princess.
“This is my third Catch of the Day fishing here,” said Craighton. “One was over 30 pounds. The last five years the fishing has been as good as it was 30 years ago!”
We had a good show for halibut on the docks that afternoon as well. John Leskoske caught a beautiful halibut. It weighed 33lbs-05oz and gave him the Catch of the Day title. John has been fishing with the Canadian Princess all week on our Boston Whaler Outrage charters. Congratulations on your catch!
The weather should hold okay for this upcoming weekend. We could see some showers on Friday but the forecast calls for sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low 20s. The marine forecast calls for northwest winds, mostly in the afternoons and diminishing on Sunday.
This weekend is also Ukee Days! It’s our annual summer festival that features logger sports, live music festivals, entertainment, beer gardens, a KidZone, crazy competitions, a parade and much more! This is the perfect weekend to go fishing and take part of all the exciting festivities happening around town. View the full events listings here.
