The boys from Alberta keep coming back for more! Greg Cowan and his group of friends were fishing with the Canadian Princess Resort for the 8th time this week. This positive bunch hail from Sundre, Alberta and had a great time with Skipper Lynnette on the Nootka Princess.
“We always have so much fun on these trips. It keeps us coming back every time!” said Greg.
It’s especially fun when you reel in a big Chinook salmon and claim the title for Catch of the Day, which is exactly what Greg accomplished with this 19lbs-08oz catch.
That same day Vic Barriesheff caught the halibut Catch of the Day on the Chinook Princess. His slab weighed 21lbs-06oz.
Rain fell on the days to follow, and a lot of it! Never-the-less, we still had a great day out on the water. Tim Otki shows some love for his salmon in this rainy day photo. Visiting from Penticton, BC Tim was fishing with a group of friends from work and much like the group from Sundre, they keep coming back for more!
The Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby will wrap up its prizing for the month of June by the end of the day tomorrow, June 30th. That means you have two full fishing days to catch a big salmon to qualify for one of the top three spots on the ladder and to get your spot in the Fish Off on the Labour Day long weekend. Currently the largest fish is 36lbs-09oz!! In order to claim second prize you’ll have to beat a 28lbs-04oz fish and beat 25lbs-07oz to steal the spot for third. With thousands of dollars worth of cash and prizes, it is definitely worth competing in this season long salmon derby.
To get your derby ticket, talk to the staff at the front desk or register online.
