The Canadian Princess Resort Crew has been busy finishing winter renovations and getting ready for what should be one of the best fishing seasons in modern history. Not only will there be an abundance of salmon, but the DFO is forecasting many of these fish will be over 25 pounds, so make room in your freezer!
We continue to strive to maintain our status as the premier fishing destination on the west coast of Vancouver Island, which is why we’ve made a couple key upgrades. The first is a blast freezer, which will help keep all those fish we’re planning on catching nice and fresh. The second is the addition of the Kingfisher 2825, a luxurious 28 foot cabin cruiser that is sure to be the envy of every angler in Ucluelet.
We have been sailing a few boats so far and are already beginning to catch a few of the early run salmon. The bottom fish stocks also look as healthy and entertaining as always.
For our inaugural trip we donated the Coho Princess to the local Cub Scouts and these ‘rookie’ fishermen showed us old salts a few things about how it should be done, slapping a boat load of ling cod onto the deck, while wondering just how many big Vermillion were down beneath us. There is one thing that us old salts must have taught the Cubs: the fish always grow after you put them in the checker.
As for the whales and wildlife, they are here and we have consistently been seeing both the Grays and Humpbacks. The always entertaining eagle show as we return to the harbour is also in full swing.
Looking forward to another fantastic season!
