May Madness month-long derby

Canadian Princess Resort - May 2, 2006

Now that May is underway, it is game on for all the anglers at the Canadian Princess. Setting "the bar", so to speak on May 1st was Richard Waring, from Taber, Alberta, with a 15 pound Chinook. This was tied by Bill Vanson from Red Deer Alberta with another 15 pound Chinook caught the same day.

May 2nd brought us the first entry for halibut, by Ronald Vanson from Red Deer, with a 36 pound halibut. We were just thinking that we were off to a great start when Charles Low from Victoria, B.C. hauled over a halibut to the scales that wieghed in at 45 pounds!

So the weight to beat thus far in the May Madness fishing derby:

  • Chinook - 15 pounds
  • Halibut - 45 pounds
