Dock Talk

Salmon on the Scales

Canadian Princess Resort - May 23, 2013

Olcay Tuzeman weighed in a 22lbs-14oz Chinook salmon at the Canadian Princess dock yesterday.  He reeled in this beautiful aboard the Barkley Princess.  He was fishing with a Magic Lure, at a depth of 120 feet out at Sail Rock.

Sail Rock, located in Barkley Sound just off the shores of Ucluelet, has been a very successful fishing spot this spring.  Several salmon weighing in the 20 to 25 pound range have been pulled out of this area.

When you fish with the Canadian Princess Resort your experienced Skipper will take you to the most productive fishing grounds.  The sport fishing community in Ucluelet is very friendly and one that shares information.  Anglers excitedly share hot spots and our Skippers are always on top of where the fish are biting, making sure you're getting a big piece of the action.

Things do tend to be more quiet during Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby Fish Off at the end of the season.  The competition is high during this major fishing event, and with major cash and prizes in mind, anglers tend to be more quiet about their successes.

The Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby is a season long derby with the top fish caught throughout the summer qualifying for the season ending Fish Off.  There are monthly cash prizes throughout the summer and major cash and prizes rewarded at the Fish Off.  Learn more about the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby and be sure to ask at the front desk about obtaining your derby ticket.  All proceeds of the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby benefit local salmon enhancement projects.

Nice fish, Olcay!  We hope to see more like it (and bigger)!

Tight Lines,

Amy
