The last few days have been very exciting in Ucluelet. Former CFL players-turned-broadcasters Chris Burns and Daved Benefield were in town shooting footage of a fishing show called Sport Fishing Adventures. Daved used to play for the BC Lions and now it looks as though he is having fishing adventures all over BC. Last week he landed a contending fish in the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby. His salmon weighed 19lbs-03oz and was caught near Cree Island.
Fishing trips at the Canadian Princess Resort were also productive. Nicole Davila landed the salmon Catch of the Day with a 18lbs-08oz fish caught on the Coho Princess with Skipper Don.
Ken Mason also had great luck when he reeled in a 16lbs-05oz halibut caught on the Barkley Princess with Skipper Dave.
The next day Brad Andrews took the title for salmon Catch of the Day with his 17lb-03oz fish caught on the Salmon Princess with Skipper Jeremy.
We are looking forward to another great weekend of fishing! You have plenty of time to compete in the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby and go for one of the top prizes for July. Currently, the biggest fish caught this month is a 28 pounder caught by Dan Webber.
