The Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby wrapped up this weekend with its annual Fish Off. Contenders from throughout the summer returned to Ucluelet to compete in Ucluelet’s largest fishing event. The anglers who caught the top fish caught during the months of May, June, July and August qualified to participate in the two-day Fish Off which rewards thousands of dollars in cash and prizes every year.
This year’s winning fish was a 33lbs-07oz TYEE salmon caught by Brett Thomas. His Tyee was actually the biggest fish caught in Fish Off history. For more information about the derby visit www.uclueletsalmonladderderby.com.
Whether you were fishing in the derby Fish Off or not, this weekend was a great weekend to be out on the water! Trevor Dewicki landed a 22 pound salmon that gave him the Catch of the Day. Trevor and his wife Jacki caught a total of 11 salmon with us during their stay.
“The fishing is great, the guides are great and we like the unique pub in the ship,” commented Trevor.
The Chinook Princess welcomed in September with some intense lingcod action. AJ Currie landed two huge lings, one weighing 23lbs-09oz and the other 21lbs-02oz. That same day Alan and Nicholas Jung cleaned up aboard the Boston Whaler #8 with Skipper Kyle. Click on the image gallery to see more photos!
The Canadian Princess Resort is open until September 30th this year and it looks like we’ve had a great start to another amazing month of fishing!
