We've had an incredible week out at the Canadian Princess. Its hard to ask for much more than we have been given. The sun has been shining almost non stop and the winds after a threatening gale force warning ceased and calmed the waters. I encountered boats on the dock bringing in 20 or more Salmon and Halibut with some releases due to catch restrictions! The salmon season isn't yet in full swing, but we are catching and fighting as well as any other year. Our expectations and excitement about this summers catch is growing exponentially by the day! The Salmon Ladder Derby biggest catch is up near 27 lbs now. Only 13 more days until some lucky Derby contested takes a $7,000 dollar check to the bank! Don't forget the $3,000 for second, and $1,000 for third! Thats me to the right with my big catch! I don't thin
k I'll be entering that one into the derby, but if you see me around ask me how its going! I've always got time to spin a yarn and make some new friends! For a legitimate catch, see below. We have been catching at pretty deep water, so the fights - even for the smaller salmon - are a challenge for fishers of all ages and abilities! We're all having a really great time out here on the Pacific Rim, and hope to see you out here over the coming months!
Until we meet, I'm Mike B saying hello from the Canadian Princess - Ucluelet, British Columbia
