Happy Canada Day!
It’s a great day to congratulate Rodney Faulkner for winning second place in the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby for June! Rodney was fishing with the Canadian Princess Resort last week when he caught his 29lbs-02oz Chinook salmon out at the Lighthouse Bank. Just a few more ounces and he would have had himself a Tyee (salmon weighing over 30lbs) but his impressive catch was more than enough to win him $2000 in cash and prizes and to qualify him for the Fish Off.
The Canadian Princess Resort is proud to be a platinum sponsor of the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby. It’s an on-going derby that runs from May to September with big monthly prizes going out to the top 3 fish. The top 15 fish on the ladder each month, along with the top 50 caught all summer, qualify for the Fish Off on September 7th and 8th. With prizes totalling over $60,000 and a new Hidden Weight Grand Prize of $250,000 I’m sure Rodney is very excited to have qualified for this major fishing event! We're excited to take him out on the water that weekend too!
All net proceeds of the Ucluelet Salmon Ladder Derby are donated to salmon enhancement projects, specifically our local Thornton Creek Hatchery. Rodney will be contacted and rewarded his earnings early next week.
Thank you Rodney for fishing with us and for supporting salmon enhancement on the west coast!
Book your next fishing adventure with us and don’t forget to ask the front desk staff about your derby ticket.
