Derby at the CP

Canadian Princess Resort - August 29, 2011

Last week we were happy to welcome the Mcguire group from all over British Columbia and Alberta to experience some of the best fishing we’ve had all season. The group opted to enter into one of our optional derbies that we put on here at the Canadian Princess Resort.

It was an exciting two days of fishing, but Reme Testini ended up coming out on top with his monster Tyee Chinook weighing in at 32.1 Lbs. This won him the trophy and a Shakespeare Ugly Stik 9’ downrigger rod. Brian Christou wouldn’t allow him all the glory though as he landed a 53.3 Lb. halibut winning a Plano Guide Tackle Box Series 1258 for the biggest fish. Along with the prizes, both men made it into the Captain’s Club with their catches. Great job guys! Of course there were other prizes awarded such as the Oak Bay Marine Group back pack, an Oak Bay Marine Group toque, and a salmon cookbook. Each person in the derby also received a radio cooler for those future fishing adventures.

From what I can tell, the group had a great experience and we look forward to having them back soon. If you are traveling with friends and would like us to organize a fishing derby while you’re here, make sure to mention it while booking your trip.
