Vancouver Island 360 race comes to Ucluelet

Canadian Princess Resort - June 11, 2011

The Vancouver Island 360 sailing race around Vancouver Island is getting ready to pass through Ucluelet. The 42 sail boats with 340 crew will start arriving tomorrow with many of them docking across from the Canadian Princess. The Canadian Princess Resort is a proud sponsor of this event and we’re excited to have the competitors come into our Map room lounge where we eagerly await to hear their stories of sailing the rugged and dangerous west coast of Vancouver Island. The town of Ucluelet will be hosting a BBQ dinner and awards presentation at the Community Hall on Tuesday, June 14 at 6pm.

The leg to Victoria gets underway on Wednesday the at 10:00am. I am excited to head to the lighthouse where we’ll see the boats jockey for position as they take off for Victoria. The race began in Nanaimo on June 4 and runs 580 nautical miles around Vancouver Island, finally ending back in Nanaimo on Sunday, June 19. The Canadian Princess Resort wishes all the sailors safe travels and full sails.
